This tutorial will teach you how to create a subdomain. A subdomain is part of the Internet address you type to go to a web site. The default subdomain is ‘www’.

If you bought the Unlimited Plan from Hostacopia, then you might want to create a development subdomain. If your domain is example.com, then your development site might be dev.example.com. If you did NOT buy the Unlimited Plan, you cannot create a subdomain. You will have to do your development on your actual domain, so go to the How to Install WordPress tutorial. To create your subdomain, follow these directions:

If cPanel is not open, open it and log in.

Scroll down until you see the Domains section.

Click Subdomains.

  1. In the Subdomain: text box, type your desired subdomain, i.e., dev.
  2. In drop-down list on the right, select the domain for which you are creating a subdomain.
  3. Finally, click the Create button.

When completed, press the Go Back button. You should now see your subdomain listed at the bottom of the screen.

You can now install WordPress on your new subdomain.
